Saco River Trash Drive - 2015

Our first Saco River Trash Drive took place on July 25th, 2015.  We reached out to the Biddeford and Saco, Maine communities, along with a number of state agencies for help and resources.  They include:

Boy Scout Troop             Girl Scout Troop         Biddeford Public Works Dept.

Biddeford Fire & Rescue Dept.    Saco Fire & Rescue Dept.    Saco River Corridor Commission   Maine Warden Service     Maine Forest Service           Pinetree Search & Rescue

Brookfield Renewable Energy     Saco Hannaford Market        Saco Shaws Market                       Biddeford Home Depot        Gloves, Etc.     Dupuis Hardware    Builders' Supply

Deering Lumber

Forty six volunteers came together and removed 3 tons of trash and debris from slightly more than 8 miles of river starting at the confluence of Swan Pond Brook to the Atlantic Ocean at Camp Ellis.  To say the least, it was very surprising to see some of the items that were collected.  How anyone could throw these items in the source of their drinking water is beyond our understanding.

Many thanks for all your help on our first trash drive.
